At the 2025 Heida Hermanns International Music Competition, presented by MoCA/CT in Westport, Connecticut, Jiahao Han was selected as one of three finalists who advanced from a global preliminary round. In the final round, each finalist presented a 45-minute performance that combined repertoire from multiple musical eras with a newly commissioned contemporary work by Timo Andres. Jiahao was awarded the $10,000 Second Prize as well as the Best Performance of a Commissioned Piece Award for his interpretation of Andres’s work Competition.

 

Jiahao’s performance was warmly recognized by the jury, which included Frederic Chiu, Eduardus Halim, Marija Stroke, and Timo Andres. Mr. Andres praised Jiahao’s realization of Competition as being exactly in line with the spirit in which he conceived the work, while the judges thought highly of Jiahao’s lecture-performance format and artistic presentation.
